The Mapusa court has directed the framing of charges against Pratima Coutinho, Aishwarya Salgaonkar, Savitri Kavlekar, Smita Dessai, Reshma Prabhu (Shrushti Raut Dessai), and Trupti Tilve. They, along with para teachers, held a 2017 demonstration outside the secretariat seeking the regularization of para teacher services.The prosecution alleges that the six accused, along with 60 other para teachers, formed an unlawful assembly during a 2017 protest outside the secretariat. They are accused of wrongfully blocking public access, restraining vehicles, and assaulting female police officers, causing injuries.Despite arguments from the defense regarding the lack of independent witnesses and issues with video evidence, the court decided that the prosecution should have the opportunity to prove its case.
