A 64-year-old woman, Deodita Fernandez from Mapusa, was found dead in a flat at Calangute. She had gone to check on renovation work and failed to return home, prompting her caretaker to alert relatives, who then called the police. Officers found her dead after breaking into the flat. Robbery has been ruled out as all her jewellery and money were intact. The cause of death is pending a postmortem report.
