In a weekend incident off Palolem beach, a 20-year-old man was rescued by lifesavers after a kayaking mishap, while five missing children were traced and reunited with their parents by Drishti Marine personnel. The rescued individual suffered a deep hand cut during the mishap, receiving prompt attention from lifesavers before being taken to a nearby health center.
In another incident at Candolim beach, a 57-year-old Punjab resident injured his leg while deboarding a boat, receiving first-aid before transfer to the nearest health center. Meanwhile, at Calangute beach, two girls from Uttar Pradesh, aged six and four, reported missing, were found after a series of announcements.
Calangute Beach also saw two separate incidents of missing youngsters, a five-year-old from Telangana, and a seven-year-old from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, both later reunited with their parents with the help of lifesavers. At Baga beach, a wandering seven-year-old was handed over to the nearest lifesaving tower and later to his parents.
In 2023, a total of 165 missing children were reunited with their parents, and 68 individuals received first-aid from Drishti Marine lifesavers during the same period.
