The Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ) has raised concerns over the issuance of media authority cards to unregistered individuals ahead of the Lok Sabha election in Goa.
GUJ President Rajtilak Naik highlighted that many self-proclaimed journalists, including activists and political party workers, have applied for these cards despite lacking formal registration and credentials. GUJ believes this practice could pose security risks, especially during the Lok Sabha poll campaign and other official events in Goa.
In a letter to Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, GUJ urged against granting media authority cards to unregistered media personnel or social media handlers claiming to be journalists.
