Chief Minister inspected Cutbona jetty following the cholera outbreak and has directed boat owners to pay ₹5 lakh in compensation to the families of deceased labourers. The government will contribute an additional ₹5 lakh from the corpus fund. New rules are set to be amended to hold boat owners liable for ₹25 lakh compensation in case of a labourer’s death on duty.
