Ashok Chavan, former Chief Minister and Congress leader, has officially stepped down from the Congress party and submitted his resignation to Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patil.

There is speculation that he might join the BJP. He held a meeting with Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar.

This meeting has triggered speculation about Chavan’s potential resignation as an MLA and raised the possibility of his joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
