The legislative assembly passed a bill on Thursday that enables the government to take over properties of persons who die without legal heirs and properties with no rightful owners. The bill authorizes the government to appoint a competent authority to conduct inquiries to determine whether a deceased person has died intestate and if they have left any legal heirs. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated that the bill aims to safeguard properties against illegal land grabs, noting that there are at least 60 cases with no claimants.
