The old Kali Bridge on NH4 in Karwar, Karnataka, collapsed around 1 am. The approximately 200-meter-long, 60-year-old bridge fell into the river during the night, averting a major tragedy. A truck driver, whose vehicle plunged into the river following the collapse, was rescued by the Karnataka Fire and Emergency Services (FES). Displaying quick thinking, the driver managed to climb out of the vehicle and perched himself on top of the truck until help arrived.
