In response to AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s indication that the party may vie for one of the Lok Sabha seats in Goa as part of the INDIA bloc, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar has asserted that the Congress will stake claim on both seats. Patkar highlighted the party’s strong voter base in both constituencies and mentioned that the final decision rests with the party High Command. 

The move sets the stage for an intriguing political contest in Goa, where the BJP currently holds the North Goa seat and the South Goa seat is represented by Congress leader Francisco Sardinha. Kejriwal had earlier expressed AAP’s intention to claim one of the Lok Sabha seats during his recent visit to Goa, where the party currently has two MLAs in the state legislative assembly compared to Congress’s three.
