The State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) has inspected 14 proposed sand mining zones in the River Mandovi and Zuari, as recommended by the State government. The SEIAA is scheduled to meet on Thursday to decide on granting Environmental Clearances (EC) for these zones.Director of Mines Narayan Gad reported that SEIAA experts have inspected 14 proposed sand mining zones, identified through a National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) study. Once Environmental Clearances (ECs) are granted, the department will invite online applications for sand extraction licenses in these zones.
