Four Shankaracharyas Decline Participation in Ram Temple Consecration, Citing Unfinished Construction.

Shortly after the pontiff of Puri’s Govardhan Mutt declined participation in the consecration of the idol at Ayodhya’s Ram temple on January 22, the counterpart from Uttarakhand’s Jyotir Mutt, Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, has declared that none of the country’s four prominent shankaracharyas, or religious heads, will be present at the event. This decision is attributed to the belief that the ceremony goes against the shastras, sacred Hindu scriptures, particularly due to the incomplete construction of the temple. Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati shared these sentiments in a video posted on Tuesday through his official handle on X, formerly known as Twitter. These statements follow the earlier announcement by Puri’s Govardhan Mutt head, Nischalananda Saraswati, who cited the preservation of the dignity of his position as the reason for his non-participation in the ceremony.
