Ahead of the upcoming GST Council meeting on June 22, the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has submitted a comprehensive memorandum outlining key reforms needed in GST laws. GCCI’s proposals include advocating for a unified 12% tax rate on accommodation services in Goa’s tourism sector, advocating for input tax credit (ITC) on construction items for hospitality and warehousing, and addressing the inverted duty structure affecting the shipbuilding industry. They also seek streamlined registration processes, clearer GST forms, and relaxation in interest payable on ITC reversals. GCCI emphasizes these changes to enhance economic growth and reduce compliance burdens for businesses.
