Goa Government Introduces Electric Vehicle Scheme with Subsidies up to Rs. 1 Lakh

The state government of Goa has rolled out an Electric Vehicle (EV) scheme aimed at promoting the adoption of eco-friendly transportation.

Under this scheme, subsidies ranging from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 1 lakh will be provided to incentivize the purchase of new EVs, as well as for retrofitting, scrapping, and de-registration of old internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. The subsidy will be applicable to approximately 5,650 EVs, including 5,000 two-wheelers, 50 three-wheelers, and 600 four-wheelers.

For two-wheelers, individuals can avail benefits ranging from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 15,000, while for three-wheelers, the subsidy ranges from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 60,000. Similarly, for four-wheelers, subsidies range from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 1 lakh.

This scheme replaces the previous promotion scheme for electric vehicles, which was discontinued on July 31, 2022. Under the newly relaunched scheme, financial assistance will be provided for vehicles purchased between August 1, 2022, and December 31, 2024.
