In a surprising move, the Goa government has replaced Dilip Naik, who has served as the Chief of the Mhadei Cell for nearly 20 years. The new appointment is Executive Engineer Lilesh Khandeparker, chosen by Chief Engineer Pramod Badami of the Water Resources Department. It’s worth noting that Pramod Badami, who also holds other significant positions in the department, had been granted three extensions by the Goa government.
The Mhadei matter, a contentious issue involving Goa, Maharashtra, and Karnataka, is scheduled to be heard in the Supreme Court in August. All three state governments have been given time to submit additional documents for the case.
