The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of the erratic water supply affecting parts of the state. Acting on reports of water scarcity in areas like Chapora, Assagaon, Anjuna, and Majorda, the GHRC has summoned the Principal Chief Engineer (PCE) of the Public Works Department (PWD) to appear for a hearing on March 11.
Residents, frustrated with irregular water supply, have allegedly seen their pleas to the PWD go unanswered. Notably, residents of Bandirwada-Chapora and Baddem recently marched to the PWD office to confront officials after facing a month-long water shortage. The GHRC’s intervention aims to address the water supply challenges and ensure accountability in resolving the issue.
