The Environmental Public hearing for the Sirigao Mineral Block has garnered varied reactions from the locals. Approximately 50% of the villagers are in favor of the mine, while the remaining half opposes it. Residents emphasize that miners need to address their concerns. 

The hearing, organized by the Goa State Pollution Control Board in collaboration with the government, focused on the environmental impact assessment for Block III Monte De Sirigao Mineral Block in the Sirigao villages of Bicholim Taluka, North Goa District. 

This pertains to the production of 0.5 MT per annum of iron ore by M/s. Rajaram Bandekar (Sirigao) Mines Pvt. Ltd. A substantial police force was deployed to ensure law and order during the proceedings.
