Gokarna police have arrested a head constable from Karnataka Police’s Karwar district and another individual for smuggling Goa-made liquor into Karnataka. The two were caught with a car and liquor worth Rs 50,000 after election officials chased their vehicle when it did not stop at Pollem CP.
Officials confirmed that they were carrying a significant quantity of liquor. The arrested head constable, Santosh Lamani, posted at Kadra police station, is suspected of being a habitual smuggler. Police Inspector Yougesh K M of Gokarna PS is leading the investigation into the alleged smuggling cartel.
