The Maharashtra government, led by Eknath Shinde, granted approval on Tuesday for a draft bill advocating a 10% reservation for the Maratha community in both educational institutions and government employment.

This move surpasses the existing 50% reservation threshold, signifying a significant step in addressing the socio-economic concerns of the Maratha community. The decision took center stage during a special one-day Vidhan Sabha session convened specifically to discuss and deliberate on the issue of Maratha reservation.
