On ‘No Smoking Day’, Dr. Shekhar Salkar, an oncologist, highlighted a positive trend in Goa: a reduction in smoking rates correlating with a decrease in oral cavity cancer cases in the state.
Dr. Salkar emphasized the detrimental effects of nicotine on heart health and suggested that the government should extend efforts beyond designated no-smoking areas to further discourage smoking.
