The Cyber Crime police have taken action by registering a First Information Report (FIR) against unidentified individuals involved in a case of alleged fraud, where a resident of Saligao was cheated of Rs 13.98 lakhs.
The victim reported that the fraudster initiated contact through Facebook Messenger and persuaded her to join “kits model academy” on Telegram. Subsequently, she was instructed to complete certain tasks and invest money in bitcoin and bytes. The fraudulent scheme was presented under the guise of securing a modeling contract and promising high returns. The victim, trusting the deception, ended up transferring a substantial amount of Rs 13,98,000 to the fraudsters.
This incident underscores the prevalence of online scams and the need for vigilance against such fraudulent activities. Law enforcement is actively pursuing the case to identify and apprehend the culprits responsible for this online fraud.
