The Goa Forward Party and Congress party have jointly approached the JERC(Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission), urging them to reject any proposal for a power tariff hike in the state. The Goa Forward Party specifically called for the government to recover Rs 200 crore in pending dues, suggesting that if successfully retrieved, it could defer the need for a tariff hike. Durgadas Kamat from the GFP emphasized the importance of an extensive recovery drive.
Meanwhile, GPCC Chief Amit Patkar insisted that the electricity department should scrutinize high-end villas currently paying domestic tariffs and consider reclassifying them under commercial tariffs to ensure fair and appropriate charges.
