The incident occurred when the accused intercepted the girl on her way to work, proposed to her, and upon her rejection, furiously struck her with a beer bottle. Injured, the girl managed to walk back to the main road, seeking assistance.

It has been reported that the victim had previously filed a complaint against the accused for harassment at the police station.
