Today, raw water pumping to Goa resumed as repairs on the Tillari irrigation canal concluded after a month-long closure. This reopening is set to address the water scarcity in Porvorim. The Control Board approved Rs 330 crore during its sixth meeting in June for the canal revival in the Tillari Inter-State Irrigation Project covering Maharashtra and Goa.
To address frequent breaches in Tillari canals, both left and right bank canals underwent simultaneous closure for maintenance—the first major repair initiative in 22 years.
