Prostitution Raid at Resort in Pernem: 2 Victims Rescued; Owner & Assistant Arrested

In a significant raid, Pernem Police successfully rescued two victims aged 23 to 24 from the Boomerang Resort in Ashvem, Mandrem, Pernem, Goa. The victims, hailing from the northern part of India, were safely admitted to a Protective Home under the order of the Deputy Collector & SDM, Pernem.

 The raid, conducted on January 17, 2024, led to the arrest of the resort owner, Mr. Vijay Kumar Sarkar (44 years old), a native of Jharkhand, and his assistant, Mr. Ajit Kumar Jha, a native of Bihar. The police suspect the accused of arranging Mujra events for wealthy customers, leading to the sexual exploitation of young women.

A team led by SDPO Pernem, Shri. Jivba Dalvi, and including members of the ARZ NGO, conducted the raid, collecting digital records and photographs of the victims, as well as online payment details to the accused. The police have seized CCTV footage and documents for further investigation. 

A letter has been submitted to the Magistrate to seal Boomerang Resort under Section 18 of the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act, 1956. Both accused were produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Pernem, and granted 10 days of police custody. Additional arrests are expected in the case.
