Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused authorities in Assam of preventing him from visiting the Batadrava Satra Temple, which is considered the birthplace of Srimanta Sankardeva, a revered Assamese saint and scholar from the 15th century. 

Gandhi claimed that the authorities’ actions were politically motivated and aimed at suppressing his visit to the religious site. The Batadrava Satra is an important cultural and spiritual center in Assam, and Srimanta Sankardeva is a key figure in the state’s cultural history.
