Amidst the pretext of unseasonal rains, the Neura Khazan sluice gate contractors have inundated the Khazan fields with saline water, citing the need for flood control. Over the past four months, these fields have remained submerged due to damaged or nonexistent sluice gate doors.

Ramrao Wagh, the convenor of the Khazan Action Committee, vehemently demands accountability from the sluggish administration and urges penal action against both government officials and tenant associations, as well as the implicated sluice gate contractors responsible for this disaster.

He raises concerns over the inaction following show cause notices issued by the Tiswadi Mamlatdar, noting that instead of rectifying the situation, more water has been released. Additionally, he questions the silence of local MLA Shri Viresh Borkar, who hails from Neura. Furthermore, Wagh criticizes the flawed process of sluice gate auctions, which often result in contracts being awarded to defaulters and non-farmers who then operate as “manshekaars.”
