South Goa District Magistrate, Asvin Chandru, has enforced Section 144 of the CrPC, prohibiting gatherings of four or more individuals within one kilometer of the Goa Meat Complex and the modernized Abattoir, Usgao-Ponda, from June 16 to June 19. This measure aims to prevent potential tensions and maintain communal peace during the Qurbani festival. Additionally, three officers have been appointed as Executive Magistrates to oversee law and order during the transportation of animals/meat into Goa, following past incidents of gatherings and anti-slaughter sentiments near the complex.
