Spate of Accidents Hits Goa as Year-end Approaches

Goa witnessed a series of accidents early in the morning as the year-end approaches, causing delays and injuries for many commuters. An accident involving a Container truck and a car at the Borim bridge near St. Francis Xavier Church halted traffic traveling from Margao to Ponda and vice versa. At the Arlem Junction, a two-wheeler collided with an oncoming truck, resulting in the rider sustaining serious injuries. Another incident occurred at Nagoa, Verna, involving a crash by a two-wheeler rider.Also another incident involving a car turning turtle was reported at Chopdem-Siolim Circle.

Yesterday, a major accident in Corjuem left three injured, with one in critical condition. As the year comes to an end, statistics consistently show at least a 25% increase in traffic fatalities compared to other months. December, in particular, registers the highest number of car accidents, according to reports from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with the number of serious accidents on the rise during this period.
