The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted inspections of sweet marts in Salcete ahead of the festive season, uncovering multiple violations. A sweet mart in Cuncolim was shut down for failing to adhere to mandatory FSSAI guidelines. In Panzarconi-Cuncolim, goods worth Rs 21,700 were destroyed after being found without proper documentation and labels. Additionally, six boxes of improperly labeled coconut laddoos were confiscated and destroyed due to unsanitary conditions. The FDA has instructed other units to rectify deficiencies immediately.
