In a bold act of theft, unidentified individuals targeted a school in Cudnem, Sanquelim, making off with approximately Rs 70,000 in cash. The stolen funds, which were exam fees collected from Std Xth students, had been stored in the school office drawer. Authorities suspect a deliberate targeting of this specific amount and have initiated an investigation following a formal complaint lodged by the school’s Principal.
Coincidentally, another school in Dharbandora, Mollem, experienced a similar intrusion. Fortunately, the perpetrators left empty-handed, as the school had no cash or valuables on the premises. The incident was captured on the school’s CCTV cameras.
Law enforcement officials are considering the possibility of an organized gang’s involvement in these school thefts, relying on the CCTV footage to gather vital leads. Ongoing investigations aim to apprehend the culprits and address the concerning trend of school burglaries in the state.
