Goa Police Takes Tough Stance at Sunburn EDM Festival: Shuts Down Stage for Exceeding Sound Limits on Day 1

On Day 1 of the Sunburn EDM Festival in Vagator, Goa, the Goa Police took swift action by shutting down Stage 4 for exceeding permissible sound limits. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Jivba Dalvi, leading the police team at the venue, confirmed that the music on Stage 4 was stopped around 9 pm due to surpassing the allowed sound limit.The artist reportedly playing at the time was one the main International artists, Bassjackers.He was seen disappointed and came shook hands with some of his fans and thanked them . 

Dalvi not only stopped the loud music but also ensured the venue remained free from any untoward incidents, including drug trade. In a viral video, DySP Dalvi is seen sternly directing the sound representatives to halt the music, around 9 pm, warning them not to interfere with police action. Social media users have praised the police’s decisive measures.

The enforcement led to a decrease in decibel levels on other stages as well. However, music on the remaining stages was allowed to continue until the permitted time of 10 pm. The Goa Police stated that organizers can resume the Electronic Dance Music on Day 2 (December 29, 2023) on all stages, provided they adhere to the legal sound limits.
