In a tragic turn of events, Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has been disqualified from the Paris Olympics just before her 50 kg gold medal bout due to being slightly over the weight limit.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) confirmed the disqualification, citing that despite the team’s best efforts, Phogat was a few grams over the 50 kg mark. As per competition rules, she will not be eligible for any medal. The Indian contingent has requested privacy for Phogat and will focus on ongoing competitions.
