Forest officials have apprehended 16 employees of the State-owned Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited on suspicion of engaging in a hunting excursion at Saljini in the Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary. Upon their detainment, officials seized five live cartridges, a hatchet, an axe, and cooking utensils from the group. The employees, consisting of drivers and porters from the Sanguem area, were observed moving towards Saljini in the sanctuary area in separate batches around 9:30 pm on Saturday night. Their movements aroused suspicion among forest department officials, who surmised that the group intended to hunt wild animals and host a gathering. Subsequently, a forest department team pursued the suspected hunting party and apprehended 16 individuals, while two others managed to evade capture, according to forest officials.
