The Karnataka government is gearing up to introduce sector-specific booster kits for start-ups within the next month. These kits, which aim to support businesses in different industries, will offer a range of benefits, including software tools, cloud credits, mentorship opportunities, access to incubators, government funding, and legal and financial consulting services. Priyank Kharge, the Information Technology Minister of Karnataka, emphasized the state’s commitment to addressing the specific needs of various sectors and providing practical assistance to start-ups.

Innovative Approach to Address Sector-Specific Challenges

Unlike previous initiatives, the upcoming booster kits will take a sector-based approach, tailoring support to the unique challenges faced by start-ups in specific industries. Minister Kharge highlighted examples, such as supporting scaling efforts in the biotech space and facilitating collaborations between robotics start-ups and relevant organizations like ARTPARK. The government is actively engaging with start-ups to understand their specific requirements and is collaborating with venture capitalists to enhance the overall value provided to these emerging businesses.

Government’s Efforts to Reduce Start-up Failures and Foster Collaboration

Minister Kharge shared that the government is working on a framework to reduce the number of start-up failures and create an environment conducive to success. Additionally, the state is eager to collaborate with start-ups, particularly in addressing challenges related to urban infrastructure and mobility. Plans for an upcoming urban solutions summit, organized by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, aim to facilitate partnerships between the government and start-ups to address critical issues in these sectors.
